The Lewis County Fair is back. The Parade will be live streamed on Tuesday July 15th at 6:30pm.
June is Great Outdoors Month and includes ARRL Field Day. Combining these two occasions leads up to emergency communication. Knowing how to communicate in an emergency could be the difference between life and death. If you don’t own emergency communication gear, such as hand crank weather radios or HAM radios, now is the time to buy one.
Create a communication PACE plan.
Practice using FRS/GMRS radios. (GMRS Requires a License)
Practice operating your HAM radio. (License Required)
Learn other ways to communicate in emergency situations, such as smoke signals or Morse code.
Update and keep a paper copy of important phone numbers.
Update important contacts on your cell phone. Teach your children how to access these contacts or call 911 if your phone is locked.
Have a crank AM/FM radio for receive only.
Have a Monthly Communication Blackout drill. (Cut all modern communication for 24 hours and communicate with anything not connected through the internet)
More Coming Soon.
